Armita and Ardeshir's Wedding at a glance

It’s hard to break down a wedding day like Armita’s and Art’s into a sneak preview… there are so many moments I want to share! Armita and Ardeshir, you both are such strong souls and your love for each other is so sweet. I was proud to be a part of your wedding day from beginning to later in the beginning, through the middle, the other side of the middle, and all the way to the end!

Highlights of my day: Armita’s grandmother’s pride, rock-star ceremony cheers and vows that brought tears, the food, the FOOD, the beautiful gowns, the beautiful PEOPLE!, and most of all the love in the air and all the people who loved my capturing it!

Thank you Kris and Jody for your amazing second shooting always, your talents are so special to me. And thank you Armita and Art for inviting me to share your day.

Congratulations to Corinne and Justin!

I’ve been editing my favorite images of Corinne and Justin’s wedding images this week from my mother’s couch. New England’s fall winds are creeping in and my California blood stream isn’t used to it! But I think this all fits as Corinne and Justin’s home is just miles down the Hudson River. Of course my working from momma’s home includes her sneaking a peak every so often at what I’m doing. After telling her of what a lovely couple they are and how touching their speeches were, about the promised (and delivered!) tears of joy, Linda’s dancing with the groomsmen, and the South African Zulu dance, her response was “this is a family I’m sure I would love”. Right on mom, you are right on...

Congratulations Corinne and Justin. Thank you so much for inviting me to capture your special day in Huntington Beach. And of course a thank you to Kris, for your creative clicks as a fabulous second shooter.

Azin and Lyle - a beautiful wedding weekend

I knew Azin and Lyle’s wedding would be special and unique when I first met them. But knowing and witnessing are two different experiences. Their wedding weekend harnessed love and community. Intricate details combined with loving friends and family created the most beautiful weekend … and numerous times throughout, I found myself overwhelmed with joy.

Thank you Azin and Lyle for inviting me to capture your love story. And thank you to your wonderful friends and family, who were so kind to my team and I. And thank you Kris! for your special eyes and talent in second shooting!

Leticia and Michael ... wed at Burge Chapel

Looking at these wedding images has brought tears to my eyes more then once. Audrey is one lucky little gal to have such a loving dad and step-mom. And her her dad and step-mom are pretty lucky themselves.

This wedding is SO WORTH the cut on my shin still healing!! Little did Leticia and Michael know, the second they walked around the corner of the Chapel during their romantic ‘photographic’ stroll, I fell flat on my face and busted my shin!! I held my inner screams for the duration and Chris, the saving grace or Burge Chapel came to my medical rescue with his first aid kit the minute they drove off into the sunset (or Sunset Blvd). If this isn’t a testament to my devotion, I don’t know what is.

now back to the beauty of the day... I say this with every one of my posts, and with every one of my posts I mean it more and more.  Thank You thank you for inviting me to share your special day. It is a gift to see such love.

'Got Caught Up Out There: Photography by Homeless Women

As some of you know, I spent four months this year working with and teaching a group of Homeless Women photography. This project was part of a Social Art Initiative of Venice Arts, Org., in collaboration with OPCC and it's Daybreak Program, and was funded in part by the LA County Arts Commission and the LA County Productivity Investment Fund.

This project gave 10 women, who have been on and off the streets in a community that is often ignored (or avoided) a VOICE. Through photography, they studied their environment, their experiences, and their visions of themselves and society. Through it all, many gained for the first time in their lives, empowerment.

Please join me in celebrating their incredibly moving images. I would love to see you all on July 25th at the Venice Arts Gallery.
